Vehicle Fire Damage Repairs

Vehicle fires are a constant problem, damaging the highway asset on a regular basis. Over a number of years, Rhino have developed a process of surface recovery, without the need for extensive resurfacing of asphalt pavements, or costly excavation of concrete bays.

This site is the M62 near Junction 9

The Problem

Traditionally this area of ‘Burnout’ would require a 15m long patch of resurfacing and all the associated costs. It is likely just one area would be repaired in any shift due to the equipment mobilisation.

The Solution

The area is prepared by removing the burnt surface either by scabbling or light planeing. Cleaned with hot compressed air, the deeper areas are first repaired with a Jointmaster patch followed by a surface applied Masterscreed treatment to level and seal the surface. The speed of operation means that often multiple sites can be treated in a single shift if the traffic management can be moved.
