The Problem
The Bridge expansion joints were found to be leaking but the 500mm asphaltic plug joints were so deep (up to 325mm) that curing times to get the heat out of the joint would have been at least 6 hours. This was not enough time to carry out the work during night time closures.
Solution: A weekend closure from Friday night to Sunday night. Enough crews to maximise the working window and get the job done.
